- Wake Forest will open the 2013-14 season on the road as it travels to Milwaukee, Wisc., to take on Marquette on Saturday, Nov. 9.
- The game is set to tip off at 2:00 p.m. ET from the Al McGuire Center.
Last Time Out
- The Demon Deacons fell to Wingate in exhibition action last Saturday 69-66 at the Joel Coliseum.
- Dearica Hamby posted a double-double of 20 points and 17 rebounds. She also had two blocks and five steals.
- Senior point guard Chelsea Douglas made five three-pointers and finished with 25 points, six rebounds and three assists.
- The Deacons trailed by eight at halftime and by as many as 11 in the second half but used a 15-3 run to take a 56-55 lead with 6:32 to play in the game.
- Wingate hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with just over a minute to play to take a 66-64 lead and held on in the waning seconds.
Wake Forest Storylines
- Senior Chelsea Douglas is the top-returning scoring point guard in the ACC. She is currently 17th in school history with 1,134 career points and is also 4th with 171 career three-pointers.
- The Demon Deacons are opening the season on the road for the first time since 2004. Wake is 9-1 all-time in season-openers on the road with its only loss coming in 1981.
- Head coach Jen Hoover is in her second season at the helm of the program.
The Opposition
- Marquette is coming off a 16-16 season that saw the Golden Eagles make a WNIT Tournament appearance.
- Marquette returns nine letterwinnwers, including four starters, and five of its top-six scorers from a year ago.
- The Golden Eagles were 7-9 in the BIG EAST last season and were picked to finish fifth in the conference's preseason poll this year.
Series History
- This will be just the second meeting all-time between Wake Forest and Marquette.
- The Demon Deacons won the first meeting 92-45 in a neutral site matchup in Deland, Fla., on Jan. 6, 1986. Amy Privette scored 20 points and dished-out seven assists in the win.
Next Up...
- The Demon Deacons will host Campbell in their home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
- Wake Forest won last year's meeting with the Fighting Camels 84-68 at the Joel Coliseum.
