GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest seniors Michael Campanaro and Nikita Whitlock as well as junior Kevin Johnson have all earned All-ACC honors as voted on by the league's 14 head coaches.
All three players were also named All-ACC by members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA) which was released last week.
For Campanaro and Whitlock, this marks the second-straight season that they have earned second team honors. Johnson earns third team honors this season after being named honorable mention in 2012.
Despite playing in just eight games, Campanaro was one of the top receivers in the conference. He hauled in 67 passes for 803 yards and six touchdowns. He broke Desmond Clark's school-record for career receptions this season and finished his career with 229 career grabs. He was also third in career receiving yards with 2,506.
Whitlock had a tremendous senior season, finishing with 82 tackles, including nine sacks and 19 tackles for loss. His 19 tackles for loss are tied for the eighth-most nationally. Whitlock also had three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and blocked the first two kicks of his career. The Wylie, Texas native joins Chris Barclay, Bob Bartholomew, Norman Sneed, James McDougald, John Henry Mills and Ryan Plackemeier as the only Deacons to earn All-ACC honors three times.
Johnson started the season with a bang, notching interceptions in each of the first two contests. He finished with three interceptions on the season and six for his career. He also had 58 tackles on the year and broke-up a total of 12 passes.
Whitlock received one vote from the 14 coaches for Defensive Player of the Year while redshirt-freshman Ryan Janvion received one vote for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
