CARY, N.C. - Wake Forest erased a one-goal deficit on two different occasions en route to a 2-2 tie with the Carolina Railhawks on Saturday afternoon at WakeMed Soccer Park to begin the 2013 spring schedule.
The Demon Deacons were able to get goals from Sean Okoli and Andy Lubahn, while Jared Watts and Michael Gamble provided the assists.
Former Wake Forest standout Zack Schilawski put the Railhawks on the board first just four minutes into the game, but the Deacs responded with 12 minutes to go in the half to make the score 1-1 at halftime. After some great build up, Watts put Okoli through and Okoli finished to tie the game.
Carolina scored another quick goal in the second half to take a 2-1 advantage, but the Demon Deacons would tie the game again. Gamble played Lubahn through with 15 minutes left in the game, and Lubahn was able to beat the keeper in a 1v1 situation after the pass.
Possession throughout the game was fairly even, as the Demon Deacons created more chances against the Railhawks.
Andrew Harris started in goal and made one save in the first half, while Alec Ferrell played the second half and made three saves.
Wake Forest will be in action again on March 28 against the Charlotte Eagles at 6 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
