Anthony Arena Signs with Houston Dynamo

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Wake Forest soccer player Anthony Arena has signed with the Houston Dynamo, who selected him in the First Round of the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft with the 18th overall pick on January 22.
Arena was a mainstay in the Demon Deacon lineup during his four years on campus. He made 74 starts and played in 79 games, while finishing his career with six goals, one assist and 14 points.
Arena has yet to see any game action for the Dynamo.

Major League Soccer
Corben Bone (Chicago Fire) - In his fourth season with the Fire, Bone has logged three minutes of play.
Brian Carroll (Philadelphia Union) - A veteran defensive midfielder in his 11th MLS season, Carroll has played every minute of the Union's seven games this season. Named the club's captain, Carroll has taken two shots in the opening games of the 2013 season.
Sam Cronin (San Jose Earthquakes) - Playing in his fourth season with the Earthquakes, Cronin leads the team in minutes played at 720. He notched a big, tying assist in a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on March 10 to go along with his two shots this season.
Stephen Keel (FC Dallas) - Keel has played one minute so far this season for FC Dallas.
Michael Lahoud (Philadelphia Union) - With two starts this season, Lahoud has five shots to his credit, including one on goal, this season with the Union. Lahoud plays alongside fellow Demon Deacon Carroll under manager John Hackworth, another former Wake Forest player and assistant coach.
Ike Opara (Sporting Kansas City) - Opara started in his debut with Sporting Kansas City, recording three shots with one on goal in a 0-0 draw against the New England Revolution.
James Riley (DC United) - Riley has started three games in his first season with DC United, recording one shot in 306 minutes played.
Wells Thompson (Chicago Fire) - Playing alongside Bone, a fellow Demon Deacon, Thompson has notched five shots in five games. After starting four games so far, he is looking to lock down a regular starting spot in the Fire lineup this season.
John Hackworth (Philadelphia Union) - Named the Union's permanent manager last summer, Hackworth has amassed a 3-2-2 record in the 2013 MLS season, placing the Union in playoff contention. In his season as interim manager, he led Philadelphia to a 10-18-6 record. Hackworth coaches two other Wake Forest players on the Union roster: Carroll and Lahoud.
Bundesliga (Germany)
Michael Parkhurst (FC Augsburg, Germany) - In two Bundesliga appearances last season, Parkhurst created four scoring chances and recorded two shots on goal.
North American Soccer League
Austin da Luz (Carolina RailHawks) - In the North American Soccer League after playing for two MLS clubs, da Luz has one goal along with three shots on target this season in 259 minutes of play. Da Luz's great play has pushed the RailHawks to the top of the NASL standings.
Akira Fitzgerald (Carolina RailHawks) - Fitzgerald is in his third season as a goalkeeper with the RailHawks and leads all NASL keepers with 15 saves. In the first weekend of NASL play, Fitzgerald was named Player of the Week.
Justin Moose (SJK, Finland) -Moose scored one goal last season in 13 starts, helping SJK finish second in Ykkonen, the second-tier Finnish league.
Pat Phelan (San Antonio Scorpions) - Phelan has played 180 minutes this season for the Scorpions, an NASL member.
Zack Schilawski (Carolina RailHawks) - After playing two seasons with the New England Revolution, Schilawski has recorded one shot in 217 minutes this season. The Railhawks are currently in first place in the NASL standings.
