WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest head men's soccer coach Jay Vidovich has released the Demon Deacons' 2013 schedule, which features 11 games against teams who made an appearance in the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
Of the 11 teams who made the NCAA Tournament, five of those teams were national seeds, including Notre Dame (1), Maryland (2), Akron (5), North Carolina (9) and VCU (14). In addition, 10 of the 18 teams on the schedule were ranked in the Top 25 of the season's final RPI rankings.
After exhibitions against Campbell on the road (Aug. 17) and Furman at home (Aug. 24), the Deacs will begin the 2013 regular season at home on August 30 at 8 p.m. against Coastal Carolina, who ended Wake Forest's season in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament last year. The Demon Deacons will then have just one more game at home against Monmouth before beginning ACC play.
With the addition of Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pittsburgh to the ACC, the conference schedule will now feature 11 games. The Deacs will open up in league play at Boston College on September 7, while the ACC home opener will be against Virginia on September 13.
The home ACC schedule includes Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Notre Dame and Syracuse. The Demon Deacons will head on the road to play Boston College, Pittsburgh, NC State, Maryland and Duke in conference.
To go along with Coastal Carolina and Monmouth, Wake Forest will play five other teams out of conference. Those teams include Elon (away), VCU (home), Charlotte (away), Akron (away) and Davidson (home).
