GREENSBORO, N.C. - Three Wake Forest men's golfers were named Academic All-ACC as announced by the conference office on Friday. Seniors Evan Beck and Charlie Harrison as well as freshman Davis Womble were three of 25 golfers honored.
For Beck, this was his fourth-straight Academic All-ACC honor. He had one of the most consistent seasons in school history, playing in 10 events and finishing in the top-20 nine times. He led the team with a 71.8 scoring average and notched three runner-up finishes amongst his five top-5s. He finished five tournaments this year under par and played 20 of his 32 rounds at par or better. The Virginia Beach, Va., native was also a finalist for the Byron Nelson Award this year which honors the senior golfer in the country.
Harrison capped his career by earning his third Academic All-ACC honor. The Atlanta, Ga., native was one of two players to play in all 11 events and he finished with a 74.4 scoring average. Over 85 percent of his rounds counted towards the team score and he was tied for second on the team with a pair of top-10 finishes.
Womble enjoyed a stellar freshman campaign. He played in eight events and finished just behind Harrison with a 74.5 scoring average. Womble carded a three-under 69 in his second collegiate round and finished at even-par 216 on a pair of occasions, including the ACC Championship in April.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
