JERUSALEM - Redshirt junior Kovi Konowiecki competed for Team USA in the 19th Maccabiah Games in Israel, helping the Americans claim the gold medal after taking down Argentina 4-3 in penalty kicks in the championship match at Givat Ram Field on Monday.
The two nations were tied 2-2 through two overtimes before heading to PKs. Konowiecki dished out assists on both goals for the Americans.
"It was awesome to be part of such a journey and lead the team all the way. We were the first American soccer team to ever take home the gold," said Konowiecki.
