GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team has been selected to finish third in the Atlantic Coast Conference, according to the ACC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll that was released by the conference office on Wednesday. The voting for the poll was conducted by the league's 12 head coaches.
The Demon Deacons received 114 points in the vote and trailed only Maryland and North Carolina. The Terrapins were selected first with 142 points, and the Tar Heels were selected second with 114 points.
As part of its 114 points, Wake Forest did earn one first-place vote. Maryland received the bulk of the first-place votes with 10, while ACC newcomer Notre Dame received one first-place vote and finished fourth in the poll with 110 points.
Virginia landed fifth in the poll and was the only other team to receive more than 100 points with 106. Rounding out the final seven spots were Clemson (69), Duke (67), Boston College (63), Syracuse (54), NC State (44), Virginia Tech (27) and Pittsburgh (18).

The Demon Deacons will play their final exhibition game this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium against Furman. The Deacs will then open the regular season on August 30 at 8 p.m. against Coastal Carolina at Spry.
