True Freshmen

Entering the 2013 season, Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe had never played more than three true freshmen in a season and a total of just 22 true freshmen in his first 12 seasons.
Tonight, a total of 10 true freshmen saw action.
Charles Argenzio, John Armstrong, Thomas Brown, Deonte Davis, Josh T. Harris, Cory Helms, Jalen Latter, Marquel Lee, James Looney, Brad Watson all saw action.
Cory Helms started at center. It marked the first time Wake Forest had started a true freshman in their first college game since DT Marvin Mitchell started vs. Richmond in 1987.

Takeaways

One of the points of emphasis entering the season for the defense was taking the ball away. The Deacons forced a total six turnovers on the night.
Mike Olson recorded his second-career interception.

Defense Bounces Back

The Demon Deacon defense gave up a 66-yard run on Presbyterian's opening play of the game. That was the Blue Hose's only first down of the first half.
Presbyterian didn't get another first down until the 14:22 mark in the fourth quarter.
The Blue Hose finished the game with just two first downs. The last time Wake Forest held an opponent to just two first downs was Oct. 7, 1944 against Maryland.

Price Takes To The Ground

Quarterback Tanner Price carried the ball a total of 14 times for 31 yards on the night.
That was his most carries and yards since he went for career-highs of 65 yards on 16 carries in the third game of his career at Stanford on Sept. 18, 2010.
Price also recorded his eighth-career rushing touchdown with a three-yard plunge in the second quarter.
That was his first touchdown run since he had two in the second game of the 2012 second against North Carolina.

Williams With A Great Start

Redshirt-freshman receiver Jonathan Williams had five receptions for 143 yards on the night.
That is the most receiving yards for a Demon Deacon in his first career game.
He is the first Deacon freshman to record a 100-yard receiving game since Chris Givens had two 100-yard games in 2009.
Williams recorded all five of his catches in the first half.

Wilhite Scores on First Carry

Redshirt-freshman Josh Wilhite took a handoff from Tanner Price and scampered 21 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
That was the first carry of his career.
He finished the game with 30 yards on three carries.

Bishop To Endzone

Tight end Spencer Bishop hauled-in a 20-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
That was the first touchdown reception of his career and it was the longest of his career.
Bishop ended the night with just the one catch.

Miscellaneous

Presbyterian won the toss and deferred to the second half.
Wake Forest captains were seniors Tanner Price and A.J. Marshall
True-freshman John Armstrong led the Deacons in rushing in his first-career game with 38 yards on six carries.
Tanner Price has not thrown an interception in his last 17 games.
Brandon Chubb tied his career-high with seven total tackles.
Kevin Johnson had a solid night with his fourth-career interception and a pair of pass breakups.
