WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's women's soccer game with Louisville has been cancelled due to persistent severe weather that interrupted play at Spry Stadium.
At the time of the cancellation, the Demon Deacons were leading the Cardinals 1-0 in the 53rd minute on a goal by Riley Ridgik, but because fewer than 70 minutes were played, the stats for the game will not count and it will not be included in the records for either team.
Weather first delayed the game for two hours at halftime, and though play briefly resumed for seven minutes, another severe weather system forced a suspension and eventually the cancellation.
Wake Forest's next contests will come on the West Coast as they travel to Portland, Ore. for the Portland Nike Invitational. The Demon Deacons will take on Washington on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time before facing host Portland next Sunday at 2:30 PDT.
