WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's golf coach Jerry Haas will be making his Champions Tour debut this weekend at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach.

Haas, who turned 50 earlier this month, is a veteran of over 115 PGA events between 1990 and 1995. His best season was in 1994 on the Nike Tour, which is now the Web.com Tour. He won three times and finished ninth on the tour's money list, earning his PGA Tour card. Haas has also played in six major championships.

The format for the First Tee Open is an interesting one. The pros are paired with a kid from The First Tee program from around the country and the duo will play one round together at Pebble Beach and another at Del Monte Golf Course along with a two-man amateur team. The top 23 junior players from the field will come back to play on Sunday at Pebble Beach with their pro. The junior golfers advance to Sunday based on their team score.

Haas is one of four Demon Deacons in the field this week. He is joined by Gary Hallberg, Scott Hoch as well as his brother Jay Haas.

Another part of the event is the Legends & Leaders dinner Thursday night for the junior golfers. Jerry Haas will be one of nine guest speakers, joining major champion Johnny Miller and PGA TOUR player Scott Langley.

The first round of the event is set for Friday, Sept. 27.
