Wake Forest Tournament History:
- The Deacons are making their 14th appearance at the Carpet Capital
- This will be Wake's seventh-straight season opening the year at the Carpet Capital
- As a team, the Deacs have finished in the top-6 five times including a pair of runner-up finishes in 2004 and 2010
- Individually, Wake has had a pair of medalists. Bill Haas won the event in 2002 and Lee Bedford won the event in 2010.
- In 2010, Wake finished runner-up behind Bedford's victory and Evan Beck's second place finish.
- Overall, a Demon Deacon has finished in the top-10 nine times in the 12 appearances.
- Last season, Wake Forest finished sixth in the event behind a 14th place finish from Thomas Birdsey.
Wake Forest Notes:
- Wake Forest is starting three freshmen at the Carpet Capital in Clancy Waugh, Danny Guise and Woody Woodward.
- This is the first time since 1999 that three Demon Deacon freshmen have started the first event.
- Senior Thomas Birdsey was second on the team a year ago with a 73.7 scoring average.
- Birdsey and freshman Ben Balter both qualified for the U.S. Amateur this summer.
- Sophomore Davis Womble played in nine of the 11 events last year as a freshman and finished with a 74.5 scoring average.
