SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Wake Forest senior Chelsea Douglas is one of 29 players on the 2014 Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List as released by The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Wednesday.
The award recognizes the top point guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. Candidates exhibit the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman.
Douglas has had a great start to the season. She is currently third in the ACC in scoring at 18.6 points per and is second in three-pointers made with 52. She has 35 assists on the year and is shooting over 38 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
Against FIU on Dec. 29, Douglas scored a school-record 48 points which included a school and ACC-record nine three-pointers. That performance helped the Deacons to the FIU Sun & Fun Classic title, their first title in over five years. Douglas' 48 points are tied for the second-most in a single game this season.
The watch list will be narrowed down to a final 20 in February, then the final five by March. The Lieberman Award winner will be announced during Final Four weekend activities in Nashville, Tenn.
