WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Three new players have joined the Wake Forest men's soccer team and will train with the team this spring, head coach Jay Vidovich announced today.
Added to the Demon Deacon squad were Jared Odenbeck, a sophomore transfer from Georgetown, and incoming freshmen Heath Honold and Dominic Scotti who are joining the team a semester early.
A defender, Odenbeck played 12 games last season for a Georgetown squad that at times was ranked in the Top 5 in the country.
"Jared is a versatile player who can play either centerback or holding mid and gained valuable collegiate experience last year at Georgetown," said Vidovich. "He fits in tune with what we're looking for which are defenders who can help build the attack."
Honold was a forward in Sporting Kansas City's youth academy, leading the academy in scoring.
"Heath has a great background and soccer education from Sporting Kansas City," said Vidovich, "He's a front runner and makes great runs with and without the ball. We look forward to working with him this spring."
Scotti is an attacking midfielder who spent time with the San Jose Earthquakes academy and won seven club state championships with three different teams.
"Dominic has been in our summer camps for several years so we've had an opportunity to see how well he fits with our program," said Vidovich. "He is a dynamic player who can create things off the dribble as well as the pass."
