WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest senior All-Americans Aubrey Bledsoe and Katie Stengel have signed on to play together with the LA Blues of the W-League this summer as they prepare for a professional career overseas.
Stengel played briefly for the Blues last season while Bledsoe will be playing for the team for the first time.
"It's great to see that the Blues recognized their talent," said Wake Forest head coach Tony da Luz. "They're going to use that time on West Coast to prepare for their professional careers in Europe."
Two of the most accomplished players in Wake Forest history, Bledsoe and Stengel hold a number of program records.
Stengel, a forward, set the Wake Forest all-time scoring records with 50 goals and 125 points, doing so in only 75 games. The Melbourne, Fla. native was a four-time All-ACC selection and three-time All-American.
Bledsoe holds almost all of Wake Forest's goalkeeping records, leaving as the program's leader with 33 shutouts and a 0.91 goals against average. A three-time All-American and All-ACC selection, she is the only Demon Deacon to start every game of her college career.
