Deacons Return Home to Face Syracuse
Wake Forest will play its first home ACC game of the season when it hosts Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Both teams are coming off losses to No. 1 Florida State.
The game will kickoff at noon and will be televised on Regional Sports Networks. The game can also be heard on the Wake Forest Sports Network from IMG College.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest lost its second consecutive game, falling 43-3 at Florida State on Oct. 4.
Dezmond Wortham, a redshirt freshman running back, made his first collegiate appearance and rushed for 68 yards vs. the Seminoles, the most rushing yards in a game by a Deacon this season.
Wake Forest fell to 0-10 all-time when facing the No. 1 team in the nation.
PK Mike Weaver converted a 36-yard field goal making him a perfect 8-of-8 to start his career, the best start ever by a Deacon kicker.
Wake Forest had an open date on Oct. 11.
Wake Forest Storylines
Wake Forest plays its first home ACC game of the season this week.
The Demon Deacons have won eight straight ACC home openers.
Wake Forest has not lost its first home ACC game of the season since a 22-12 loss to Maryland in 2005.
The Syracuse game marks the start of a three-game homestand for the Deacons who will not play another game this season outside of the state.
Wake Forest has played four of its first six games on the road.
The Opposition & Series History
Saturday's game will be just the fourth meeting all-time between Wake Forest and Syracuse.
The Orange has won two straight games in the series after taking the series opener 20-10 at BB&T Field in 2006.
Syracuse has played four of its first six games in the Carrier Dome along with a neutral site game and one true road game at Central Michigan.
Next Up
Wake Forest hosts Boston College on Saturday, Oct. 24 at BB&T Field.
The Deacons have won two of the last three games from Boston College including the last game at BB&T Field, a 28-14 win in 2012.
