Dearica Hamby Named to Preseason All-ACC Teams

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest senior Dearica Hamby was named to the Preseason All-ACC teams and the Demon Deacons was selected to finish in 11th place in both the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches' preseason polls. The conference announced its preseason polls and all-conference honorees Wednesday in conjunction with ACC Women's Basketball Media Day at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
Hamby was named to both the Blue Ribbon Panel and head coaches' Preseason All-ACC teams. She led the league in scoring (22.0) and rebounding (11.0) last season. She was named first-team All-ACC, All-Tournament and WBCA All-Region a year ago after she set seven single-season program records. She scored more points, grabbed more rebounds and attempted and made more free throws than any Demon Deacon in a single-season. She also had a school-record 22 double-doubles.
WFU was tabbed to finish 11th out of 15 team in both preseason polls. The Demon Deacons finished 11th a season ago with a 15-16 overall record and a 5-11 mark in league play. Wake Forest is the only team in the league to have won a game in the ACC Tournament in each of the last six seasons.
