WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Freshman midfielder Jon Bakero has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Bakero joins junior Michael Gamble who was named ACC Player of the Week earlier this season.

Bakero had a standout week as he scored two goals and had an assist in the 4-0 win over Howard while scoring the game-winning goal in the victory over No. 22 Virginia. After Virginia had tied the game at 1-1 in the 81st minute, Bakero tallied the go-ahead score just two minutes later as the Deacs held on to win.

The Sitges, Spain native has scored the game-winning goal in each of the last three games for the Deacons and has a combined five goals over that span.

Four of Bakero's six goals this season have been game-winners, tied for third most in the league. He is also tied for the team lead in goals and ranks sixth in the ACC with 14 points.

Wake Forest (9-6-0, 4-3-0 ACC) hosts No. 7 Charlotte at 7 p.m. on Tuesday before welcoming No. 9 Louisville to Spry Stadium at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
