WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Hofstra's Maid Memic converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute as the Pride defeated Wake Forest 1-0 on Monday night.
Memic was awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box and scored his fourth of the year. Wake Forest (6-5-0, 2-2-0 ACC) outshot Hofstra (6-3-2) 19-8 in the game but could not find the back of the net. Patric Pray made three saves for the Pride while Alec Ferrell made two for Wake Forest.
The first half was fairly even as Wake Forest held an 8-5 advantage in shots. Each side had three corner kicks in the half. Wake Forest had four straight shots halfway through the period that either went just wide or were blocked.

Wake Forest recorded 11 shots in the second half and nearly tied the game late in the half but fell short. In the 82nd minute, Ricky Greensfelder blasted a shot at the goalkeeper and Harkes one-timed the rebound but a Hofstra defender blocked it to preserve the lead.
