DURHAM, N.C. - John Wolford threw for three touchdowns for the first time in his career, but Wake Forest fell to Duke, 41-21, in the 2014 season finale at Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday night.

Wolford completed 23-of-35 passes for 244 yards and a trio of touchdowns, finding Jared Crump, Cam Serigne and Brandon Terry in the end zone for scores.

Wake Forest (3-9) surpassed 300 yards of offense for the third time of the season, but Duke (9-3) took advantage of several big plays to earn the win.

Brandon Chubb surpassed his previous career-high by making 19 tackles, also forcing a fumble and breaking up a pass. Marquel Lee (13 tackles, half sack), Ryan Janvion (11) and Thomas Brown (10, forced fumble) also had double-digit tackles.

Additionally, Serigne broke the program record for catches in a season by a tight end, totaling 54. That surpassed the mark of 51 first set in 1971. He also becomes the first tight end to lead the team in receptions since John Henry Mills did so in 1991.

Several Demon Deacons had big games in their final appearances in Old Gold & Black.

Matt James earned career-highs with nine receptions and 87 receiving yards, while Terry caught his first-ever touchdown pass, a 40-yard reception.

Jordan Garside added a 28-yard carry on a fake punt in his final game, and Zachary Allen made six tackles, including a sack.

Duke returned the opening kickoff into Wake Forest territory and capped off an eight-play drive with a four-yard touchdown run by Anthony Boone.

Wake Forest responded with a 27-yard pass from Wolford to Crump to even the score at 7-7.

The Deacons fumbled a punt in their own territory, which Duke recovered. The Blue Devils found the end zone five plays later on a Shaun Wilson eight-yard carry.

Duke caught Wake Forest off guard by recovering the ensuing onside kick, then completing a 52-yard touchdown pass from Boone to Jamison Crowder the very next play to stun the Deacons.

After Serigne's touchdown grab in the second quarter, the Demon Deacons got back in striking distance in the third when Terry's 40-yard touchdown grab wrapped up an 80-yard drive, cutting the margin to 27-21.

A 28-yard pass on the next play from scrimmage for Duke sparked another long drive. Chubb forced a Duke fumble on the 1-yard-line, but the Blue Devils recovered it in the endzone for the touchdown.

Duke put the game away with a drive that ran more than six minutes off the clock in the fourth quarter, with a jump pass from Thomas Sirk to David Reeves closing out the scoring.
