WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - A trio of Wake Forest football captains were named to the Capital One Academic All-District III Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced.

Graduate student running back Jordan Garside, junior linebacker Hunter Williams and sophomore safety Ryan Janvion each received the honor for the first time in their careers.

The award recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. Student-athletes need a minimum grade-point average of 3.3 and must be a regular contributor on the field to be eligible.

Wake Forest led the ACC with three representatives, as no other conference program had more than two players recognized.

Garside, who maintains a 3.89 grade-point average while studying religion and economics, has seen action at running back and on special teams.

Williams, a finance major with a 3.46 GPA, is sixth on the team with 45 tackles, also recording a sack, interception and fumble recovery this season.

Janvion is the team's leading tackler, having totaled 88 tackles, seven for a loss, to go along with four pass breakups, a fumble forced and fumble recovery. In the classroom, Janvion has a 3.65 GPA as a business major.

In NCAA Division I, CoSIDA's District III is comprised of schools in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

All three now move to the ballot for Academic All-America, which will be announced in early December. Wake Forest's last Academic All-America honoree was Louis Frazier, a first-team honoree in 2007.
