WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest freshman guard Mitchell Wilbekin has been suspended for up to six games due to an NCAA violation. Wilbekin will begin the suspension today.

Wake Forest will appeal Wilbekin's suspension with the NCAA.

"We believe in Mitchell Wilbekin," said Wake Forest Athletic Director Ron Wellman. "We do not agree with the length of the penalty, and we will be appealing the suspension with the NCAA."

Wake Forest freshman forward Cornelius Hudson and freshman guard Rondale Watson will also sit out today's game against Florida due to conduct detrimental to the team.

Wake Forest faces Florida in the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic today at 5 p.m. in Sunrise, Fla.
