WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest has earned the No. 11-seed in this year's ACC Women's Basketball Tournament and will open play against No. 14-seed Pitt on Wednesday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m.
The Demon Deacons dropped their last four games of the regular season and finished with a 14-15 overall record and a 5-11 mark in the ACC. Pitt also lost four-straight to end the season and was 11-19 overall and 3-13 in the conference.
In the team's only meeting on Feb. 9, in Pittsburgh, Dearica Hamby scored a career-high 32 points to lead the Demon Deacons to a 74-70 victory. Pitt leading scorer Brianna Kiesel and Wake Forest senior Chelsea Douglas both missed the game with injuries.
The winner of the game Wednesday night will take on No. 6-seed North Carolina on Thursday, March 6, at 8 p.m. Both games will be televised on the Regional Sports Network.
Wake Forest has enjoyed a fair amount of success at the ACC Tournament recently. The Deacons advanced to the semifinals in 2012 and Wake is only team in the conference to win a game in the tournament in each of the last five seasons.
