WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships and will open the tournament with a rematch against Louisville on May 9 at 10 a.m. in Columbus, Ohio.
"It's always exciting to have an opportunity to play in the NCAA Tournament," said head coach Tony Bresky. "Louisville is a great team - we've played them each of the last three years - so we know it's going to be an exciting matchup."
The winner of the match between Wake Forest and Louisville will take on the winner of No. 3 overall seed Ohio State and Bryant for a spot in the Round of 16.
The Demon Deacons and Cardinals have already met once this season with Wake Forest scoring a 5-2 victory in Louisville. The Deacons won the doubles point in that match and got singles wins from Romain Bogaerts, Jon Ho, Maksim Kan and Aws Laaribi to earn the victory.
"It helps us (that we've played Louisville), but it also probably helps them as well," said Bresky. "We're familiar with them, their program and their players so we'll have a good idea about what to expect."
The match against the Cardinals will be a preview of future conference meetings with Louisville slated to join the ACC next season.
Selections for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will be released tomorrow.
