WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomores Ian Harkes and Jacori Hayes and incoming freshman Kris Reaves have been selected to attend training camp with the U-20 U.S. National Team in Raleigh, N.C. next week.
The three Demon Deacons will join 21 other players on the campus of NC State from May 17-25 for the camp, which will be overseen by U.S. Under-20 National Team assistant coach Brian Bliss. During the session, the team will play friendly matches against the Carolina RailHawks (May 20), the RailHawks U-23s (May 22) and the Wilmington Hammerheads (May 24).
Harkes and Hayes each had significant contributions on the field for the Demon Deacons during the 2013 season. Harkes, a native of Fairfax, Va., dished out a team-high seven assists and added a goal of his own against Syracuse on Nov. 8, while Hayes, from Bowie, Md., appeared in 18 contests and notched one goal and one assist. Both were named to the ACC All-Freshman Team following the season.
Reaves, hailing from Duluth, Ga., has spent a significant amount of time training with overseas teams, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, as well as with the U.S. development program. He traveled with the U-18 National Team to France and Romania in 2013 and was ranked the ninth-best defender in the nation in the 2014 signing class.
Harkes and Hayes have already seen time with the U-20 squad, having been called up in January to attend training camp with the team, while Reaves will be seeing his first experience with the team.
