Wake Forest Hall of Fame member Jay Haas has been selected to captain the U.S. Team at the 2015 President's Cup as announced by the PGA TOUR on Wednesday.
The matches will take place on Oct. 6-11, 2015, at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club of Korea in South Korea. This will be the first time the President's Cup has been contested in Asia.
Haas is a two-time U.S. President's Cup participant, competing in 1994 and again in 2003. He compiled a 5-3-1 record while helping the team to victory in 1994 and the cup's only tie in 2003. He served as Fred Couples' Captain's Assistant for the winning U.S. Teams in 2009, 2011 and 2013. Couples will serve as Haas' top assistant in 2015.
Haas is a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour and has also won 16 times on the Champions Tour. So far this season, he is third in the Charles Schwab Cup Standings and has finished outside the top-10 just once in 10 starts.
Haas was a four-time All-American for the Demon Deacons from 1973-76. He led Wake Forest to an NCAA Championship in both 1974 and 1975 and was the NCAA Individual Champion in 1975. Haas received the prestigious Fred Haskins Award in 1975 as the nation's most outstanding collegiate golfer.
