Wake Forest graduate Kyle Reifers is headed back to the PGA TOUR. Needing a good finish this week at the WinCo Foods Portland Open, Reifers carded a third-round 64 and earned enough money to secure his card in 2015.
For Reifers this will be his third stint on the PGA TOUR since graduating from Wake Forest in 2006. He earned his way through Q-School in 2007 and then finished in the top-25 on the Web.com Tour in 2011 to claim his card for the 2012 season. Both years, he played in 27 events on the PGA TOUR but was unable to retain his card.
Reifers will join fellow Demon Deacon graduates Bill Haas and Webb Simpson on Tour next season. The 2006 graduate played two seasons at Wake Forest will both Haas and Simpson.
This season, Reifers has notched three third-place finishes on the Web.com Tour and has a total of four top-10 finishes in 18 events. Facing a nerve-racking weekend in Portland at the WinCo Foods, Reifers made seven birdies and an eagle in a third-round 64 to put him in contention. On Sunday, he went-out in 3-over par but gathered himself and made a birdie at No. 17 to finish with a 74. That earned him enough to move up two spots to No. 25 on the money list and earn his card.
