WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest is ranked No. 11 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Preseason Ranking, as announced by the NSCAA on Wednesday afternoon.
Bolstered by a strong incoming freshman class and a wealth of returning talent, Wake Forest is ranked at the same spot that the team ended at last season. The Demon Deacons were ranked No. 11 at the conclusion of last season in which Wake Forest fell to Notre Dame in the NCAA third round. Wake Forest is coming off a 10-6-5 record in 2013.
The Demon Deacons will host four top-10 teams this season which includes three in the first three games of the season. Wake Forest will open with No. 4 UCLA on August 29 followed by No. 7 California on August 31 and No. 8 Connecticut on Sept. 5. The Deacs will also travel to No. 3 Virginia on Oct. 24.
Wake Forest faces other ranked teams such as No. 13 Akron (Sept. 30), No. 14 Louisville (Nov. 1) and No. 23 Charlotte (Oct. 28).
Wake Forest and UCLA will kick off the regular season on August 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Spry Stadium. The Deacs will host two preseason matches prior to that as Wake Forest hosts Gardner-Webb on August 18 and No. 22 North Carolina on August 23.
