WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The NFL season is underway and 11 Demon Deacons have made NFL rosters. WakeForestSports. com will keep you up-to-date throughout the year with weekly recaps.
FB Tommy Bohanon, New York Jets
The 2013 seventh-round draft pick begins his second season as the Jets' lead blocker. He finished his rookie season with 17 carries for 62 yards and also had 11 receptions for 69 yards out of backfield.
S Josh Bush, New York Jets
Bush is entering his third season with the Jets. He saw mainly special teams action as a rookie and worked his way into one of the team's top safeties last season. He had 17 tackles in 2013 and forced one fumble.
WR Michael Campanaro, Baltimore Ravens
The rookie receiver had a very good camp and made the Ravens' 53-man roster. He is on the depth chart at receiver and should also see some action as a kick and punter returner. Wake Forest fans saw Campanaro's quickness and route running ability over his record-setting four-year career but the Raven coaches got a first-hand look this camp and liked what they saw.
OT Tyson Clabo, Houston Texans
Clabo signed a free agent contract with the Texans this summer and has made the 53-man roster. He starts the season as the back-up right tackle to Derek Newton. Clabo is a beginning his 10th season in the NFL. He's also spent time with the Falcons and the Broncos.
WR Chris Givens, St. Louis Rams
Givens enters his third season as a receiver for the Rams. He made 13 starts last season and played in all 16 games. Givens made the most of his limited preseason action, catching four passes for an average of 34.5 yards per catch and one touchdown.
RB Josh Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers
Rookie Josh Harris signed with the Steelers at the end of July and was with the team throughout the month of August. He made an impression with the coaches however as they signed the Duncanville, Texas native to the practice squad.
OG Joe Looney, San Francisco 49ers
Looney is starting his third season with the 49ers. After not seeing much playing time his first two seasons, Looney has taken advantage of his opportunity this camp and appears to have earned the starting right guard job. Looney was selected in the fourth round of the 2012 draft.
LB Calvin Pace, New York Jets
Pace has played in 83 games over the past 11 seasons in the NFL and has made 54 starts. He had a career-high 10 sacks for the Jets last season and will again anchor the team's linebacking corps.
DE Zach Thompson, Denver Broncos
Thompson signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent back in May and after spending the summer and preseason camp with the team, he was released. He was then signed to the practice squad with the Denver Broncos. Thompson had five tackles in three preseason games with the Jets.
LB Kyle Wilber, Dallas Cowboys
Wilber played in all 16 games last year for the Cowboys and this season, he is slated to start at outside linebacker. This will be Wilber's third season in Dallas. He has recorded 49 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries in his first two seasons.
FB Nikita Whitlock, Dallas Cowboys
Transitioned fullback Nikita Whitlock was signed to the Cowboys' practice squad on Sept. 1. The Wylie, Texas native spent the entire preseason with the Cincinnati Bengals. He impressed a number of coaches with his work ethic but wasn't able to find a spot with the Bengals. Whitlock reunites with former defensive line mate Kyle Wilber.
