WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Jacori Hayes and Tane Gent of the Wake Forest men's soccer team were named to the 2015 Academic All-District Three Division I Team on Thursday, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hayes, a Physics major with a 3.69 grade point average as a junior, has started 15 games this season for the Demon Deacons and has come on strong of late with five points on a goal and three assists in the team's last four games. Overall, Hayes has scored three goals -- all game-winners -- to go with five assists for a career-high 11 points thus far. His three game-winning goals have come against Santa Clara, South Carolina and North Carolina.
Gent is a junior Business and Enterprise Management major with a 3.57 GPA. In 15 games this season off the bench, Gent has notched six goals to put him in a three-way tie for second on the team. The junior from Christchurch, New Zealand, has doubled his career-high in goals already this season while scoring in two of the team's last three games.
The CoSIDA All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance athletically and in the classroom. Hayes, Gent and the other honorees all advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honors will be selected in November. The Division I All-America Team is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Wake Forest closes the regular season Friday night on the road against Louisville. First kick is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
