GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second-straight week, a Wake Forest men's soccer player has been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week. This week, as announced Tuesday by the conference, Jack Harrison shares the honor with Julian Buescher of Syracuse.
Harrison led the Demon Deacon attack on Friday, Oct. 2, in a 5-0 defeat of No. 22 Boston College on the road. Harrison became the first Deac to score twice in one game this season, tallying in the 33rd and 67th minutes. The goal in the 33rd minute came on a strike from 15 yards out to put Wake Forest up 1-0. His 67th-minute goal came on a one-timer that was sent just under the crossbar over the outstretched arms of the Eagles' goalkeeper.
In the midst of a stellar freshman campaign, Harrison has scored four goals to go with five assists. With 13 points, he is tied with Michael Gamble for the team lead. His five assists are tops in the ACC and 16th nationally while his four goals put him tied for eighth in the conference.
Joining Buescher and Harrison with weekly awards, Virginia's Patrick Foss was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Last week, Jon Bakero and Alec Ferrell swept the ACC weekly honors as Bakero notched the Offensive Player of the Week nod and Ferrell claimed the Defensive Player of the Week award.
Wake Forest returns to action tonight, Oct. 6, at Spry Stadium against South Carolina. The contest between the Demon Deacons and Gamecocks is set for 7 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN3.
