Ariel Stephenson Named ACC Freshman of the Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's basketball freshman Ariel Stephenson was named the ACC Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Stephenson averaged 17.0 points per game in two Demon Deacon wins over the weekend.
In her collegiate debut, the Prince George, Va. native dropped 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Deacs past LSU, 60-57. Stephenson was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the victory. She followed up that performance with 13 points and four rebounds in a 69-52 win over East Tennessee State.
Stephenson is Wake Forest's first ACC Rookie of the Week since the 2009-10 season when Secily Ray collected the honor twice.
