WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- With the first round of the ACC Championship in the books Wednesday night, the top-ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team has learned it will take on ninth-seeded Louisville on Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium in the ACC Quarterfinals.
Louisville scored twice in less than a minute in the first half to jump on top of the Blue Devils and while it had to weather the Duke storm in the second half, the Cardinals only bent in giving up a goal in the 57th minute but didn't break in holding off Duke's attack for the 2-1 win. Duke outshot Louisville 19-9 in the game, but most of the Blue Devil shots came in the second half trying to come back from the 2-0 deficit.
Sunday's 1 p.m. matchup marks the second game between Wake Forest and Louisville in 10 days. Last Friday, Oct. 30, the Deacs went to Kentucky and scored three first-half goals on the way to defeating Louisville 4-2 and winning the ACC regular-season title. All-time, Wake Forest holds a slim 3-2 lead in the series against Louisville. The Deacs have won each of their last two games against the Cardinals, winning last week and topping Louisville 1-0 in overtime at Spry Stadium last November.
Tickets for Sunday's game are $5 and ticketing policy will follow the same format used for the regular season. Children three years of age and under will be admitted free of charge, as well as any student with a valid ACC school college ID. Any questions about ticketing should be directed to the Wake Forest Ticket Office at (336) 758-3322.
