WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Former Wake Forest men's soccer player Michael Parkhurst has captained the Columbus Crew to the 2015 Audi MLS Cup Final after the Crew won the Eastern Conference Championship on Sunday, Nov. 29, over New York Red Bulls.
Parkhurst is the only player on Columbus' roster to have reached the MLS Cup Final. He has made 33 appearances this season for Columbus as the captain and hoisted the Eastern Conference Championship trophy after the team beat New York Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Columbus will take on the Portland Timbers on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. at home at MAPFRE Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN. Parkhurst is seeking his first MLS Cup title. Columbus has won one, beating New York Red Bulls in 2008.
