Hi! I'm Jenna Romano. After hours of traveling we finally made it to Guatemala City, Guatemala. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived by our tour guide (Carlos) and our driver (Raul).
First we stopped at the nearest mall to get some food and groceries for the week. Everyone was very surprised about how modernized the Guatemala City mall was. Even though they had some American franchises (Subway, McDonald's and Taco Bell) we quickly passed up those options up and were introduced to our first Guatemalan food; it was amazing!
After the mall we had about an hour bus ride to Antigua. We knew right away when we reached the Antiguan city limits because the roads are all cobblestone, therefore it was a bumpy ride to say the least. As soon as we arrived at our condos in Antigua we were in awe. The condos are best described as "Guatemalan heaven" (credit to Katie Dry).
We are split up into four condos, where there is a pool and jacuzzi in the court yard. Once we got settled in, we walked around the heart of Antigua where we saw plenty of different shops and locals. We ate dinner at a restaurant called Cafe Sky, where we ate even more, delicious Guatemalan food and had a view of Guatemala's traditional religious parade. After dinner we walked back to the condos and went to bed, anxiously waiting for the coffee tour and to finally meet our little ajihadas!
