ATLANTA, Ga. - Wake Forest senior Dearica Hamby has earned WBCA All-Region honors as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday. Hamby is one of 52 players to earn All-Region honors this season. From the group of 52, the WBCA will select its 10-member All-America Team which will be announced on Saturday, April 4, as part of the NCAA Women's Final Four festivities.
This marks the second-straight year Hamby has earned All-Region honors from the WBCA. This season Hamby was also named All-ACC first team by both the leagues' head coaches and the Blue Ribbon Panel. Hamby is the first Wake Forest player to earn first team accolades twice in her career and just the third Demon Deacon to earn first team All-ACC honors joining Tracy Connor (1996) and Jen Hoover (1991). The senior was also named first team All-ACC Tournament after leading the Demon Deacons to two wins in the conference championship.
Hamby finished her career as the program's all-time leading scorer (1,801 points) and rebounder (1,021 rebounds). She is just the second Demon Deacon to reach 1,000 career points and rebounds along with Hoover. In her senior season she averaged 20.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
