Wake Forest Releases 2015 Men's Soccer Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest released its 2015 men's soccer schedule today, which features 12 home matches and six contests against teams that finished last season ranked or receiving votes for the the top-25 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll.
The Demon Deacons open the regular season with four consecutive home matches. Bobby Muuss' first match as Wake Forest head coach will take place on Friday, Aug. 28 against Santa Clara, before facing two teams from Florida, which includes Florida International on Sunday, Aug. 31 and Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, Sept. 5.
The Deacons will then wrap up their four-game home stand with a Tuesday night matchup on Sept. 8 against UNC-Asheville.
As part of the schedule rotation, Wake Forest will miss defending national champions Virginia this season, but will face three teams they did not play last season in Notre Dame, North Carolina and Pittsburgh. The Demon Deacons open ACC play on the road his season against Pittsburgh on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Wake Forest will then return home to face Elon on Sept. 15, and then host their first ACC home game against NCAA tournament team Syracuse for the annual Genna Wiley match on Saturday, Sept. 19.
The Wake Forest men's soccer Alumni Weekend will take place on Sept. 26 when the Demon Deacons host defending ACC Tournament champions Clemson at Spry Stadium. They will then hit the road again after a week of rest for a conference battle at the Boston College Eagles on Friday Oct. 2.
In addition to its season-opening matches and the Elon matchup on Sept. 15, Wake Forest will play home non-conference games against South Carolina (Oct. 6), Georgia State (Oct. 20), and Davidson (Oct. 27), while play two road non-conference contests at NCAA Tournament team Akron (Sept. 22) and Campbell (Oct. 13).
The Deacons will have a big month of ACC matches in October at Spry Stadium and on the road as they host NCAA quarterfinalists North Carolina on Saturday Oct. 17, and 2013 NCAA Champion Notre Dame on Friday, Oct. 23. Wake Forest closes out the regular season with a road trip to Louisville on Friday, Oct. 30.
Wake Forest will play the first of two exhibitions against two NCAA Tournament teams from last season, which include Aug. 16 at Furman before its scrimmage against Kentucky on Aug. 22 at Spry Stadium.
All rounds of the ACC Championship will be held at campus sites of the higher seed for that particular match. The first round will be on Nov. 4 and the quarterfinals will be on Nov. 8. The ACC semifinals and championship match will take place on Nov. 11 and Nov. 15 respectively.
