WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest head women's soccer coach Tony da Luz announced the program's 2015 schedule on Monday afternoon.
In addition to the 10 ACC games, the 19-game regular season schedule features four nonconference games against Power Five opponents and nine total home games.
In total, the Demon Deacons play eight teams that made the NCAA Tournament a year ago, including five which made it to the round of 16 or further.
"The 2015 schedule is demanding but provides us many opportunities to gain RPI credibility and build a strong case for a return to the NCAA Tournament," da Luz said. "Our fans will be treated to a great ACC home schedule at newly-renovated Spry Stadium. We have our work cut out for us but we look forward to the challenge. Our young team can handle it."
After an exhibition game at Ohio State on Aug. 15, Wake Forest opens up the regular season at home on Aug. 23 against 2014 NCAA Tournament qualifier Georgia at Spry Stadium.
The Deacons then hit the road for four straight at Alabama (Aug. 28), Samford (Aug. 30), and neutral-site games against William & Mary (Sept. 4) and Oregon (Sept. 6) at a tournament hosted by NC State.
Wake Forest opens its longest homestand of the year against UCLA, an NCAA Elite 8 team a year ago, on Sept. 11. That stretch includes games against George Mason (Sept. 13), the ACC-opener against Miami (Sept. 18), and UNC Wilmington (Sept. 20).
After the road ACC-opener at Pitt (Sept. 24), the Deacons play six straight NCAA Tournament teams, including North Carolina (Sept. 27), Virginia Tech (Oct. 8) and NCAA runners-up Virginia (Oct. 11) at home, as well as Clemson (Oct. 2) and Notre Dame (Oct. 16) on the road. Wake Forest also plays Florida Gulf Coast at a neutral site, on the campus of Mercer (Oct. 4).
Wake Forest closes its regular season with games at Boston College (Oct. 22) and Syracuse (Oct. 25), returning home for Senior Day against Louisville on the night of Halloween (Oct. 31).
The ACC Championship is set for Nov. 6 and 8 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. The first four rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be on campus sites in November, before the NCAA College Cup on Dec. 4 and 6, also at WakeMed Soccer Park.
The Deacs have reached the NCAA Tournament in 18 of the past 19 seasons and are coming off a 5-9-3 finish a season ago.
