Demon Deacons Picked Third in ACC Atlantic Division

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- In the preseason poll of the 12 Atlantic Coast Conference head men's soccer coaches released Thursday morning, Wake Forest has been selected to finish third in the Atlantic Division behind Louisville and Clemson, respectively.
The Demon Deacons tallied 46 points in the poll and one Atlantic Division first-place vote. Louisville earned 66 points and six first-place votes while defending ACC Tournament champion Clemson earned five first-place votes and 62 points.
In the Coastal Division, defending national champion Virginia earned the top spot with seven first-place votes and 64 points. The Cavaliers edged North Carolina and Notre Dame in the vote, as the Tar Heels were picked second in the division with four first-place votes and 59 points while Notre Dame picked up one first-place vote and 54 points.
Additionally, Virginia was picked by the coaches as the overall ACC champion with four votes. Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina and Notre Dame each earned two votes as the league's overall champion.
Wake Forest, which returns 10 starters from the 2014 team that finished 10-7-2, will open the 2015 regular season on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. against Santa Clara. The contest against Santa Clara will come following two exhibitions. The Deacs are set to travel to Furman for a 7 p.m. matchup on Sunday, Aug. 16, and will welcome Kentucky to Spry Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 22, for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
