Deacs Set to Open ACC Play at Pittsburgh
• After a 4-0 homestand to start the season, Wake Forest will hit the road this weekend to take on Pittsburgh in the ACC opener.
• Saturday night's match is set for 7 p.m. The match at Ambrose Urbanic Field is the second all-time between the Deacs and Panthers.
Last Time Out
• Welcoming UNC Asheville on Tuesday night, the Demon Deacons got off to a quick start with four first-half goals on the way to a 5-0 victory over the Bulldogs at Spry Stadium.
• Wake Forest had four different players score goals in the contest while UNC Asheville gave up an own goal just 71 seconds into the game.
Climbing The Polls
• Wake Forest climbed higher in all three national polls this week. The Deacs check in at No. 14 in the NSCAA poll, No. 16 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll and No. 18 in the Soccer America poll.
• Additionally, Wake Forest is ranked No. 6 in the NSCAA South region poll. Only Notre Dame, North Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Virginia and Clemson checked in ahead of the Demon Deacons, in that order.
Scouting the Panthers
• Pittsburgh has not lost yet this season in going 3-0-1 in its first four matches. In fact, the Panthers have yet to allow a goal in four regular-season matches and two exhibition matches.
• The Panthers are led thus far by Patrick Dixon, who has scored twice on the season. Tobias Heyman has scored once with two assists and is tied with Dixon for the team-lead in points with four.
• In goal, Dan Lynd has played all 380 minutes thus far and has made 10 saves with four shutouts.
Muuss At Home
• Dating back to his tenure at Denver, head coach Bobby Muuss has not lost a home contest since Aug. 30, 2013, when the Pioneers lost to Charlotte 2-0 in Denver. Since that loss, Muuss has guided his teams to a 22-0-1 mark at home after starting the 2015 season 4-0 at Spry Stadium.
Up Next
• Following Saturday's road match in Pittsburgh, Wake Forest comes home for a brief two-game homestand against Elon on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
• Next Saturday, the Demon Deacons will welcome Syracuse to Winston-Salem for the second ACC contest of the season. That match is also set for 7 p.m.
• Saturday's game against the Orange will be televised on ESPN3.
