Wake Forest Head Coach Dave Clawson

Opening Statement...
"I thought our kids played hard for four quarters. The bottom line is on offense we missed some opportunities in the passing game. In the second and third quarters, I think we had people open and just didn't throw and catch as well as we need to. In a game like that, you have to make those plays. We started out really, really slow. I think we had negative yards of offense, or close to it after the first quarter. In the second quarter we seemed to get into a little bit of a rhythm. I thought the third quarter was going to be critical; we started with the football, we were down seven points, but we just sputtered offensively. But we came to life in the fourth quarter, but too little too late. Defensively, we still have not generated a turnover in four games. They tried to hand us two; they threw the ball right to us and we dropped them both. We didn't tackle well. I thought their offense played extremely well. I think they clearly controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football, but especially their offensive line. Their offensive line is really good. They're physical. They were picking up all the movements and blitzes and everything we were throwing at them. Their backs did a really good job of making our safeties and corners miss. I can't imagine how many missed tackles we had in this game. We did not tackle as well as we needed to, but again, we did some good things. We came up short, but obviously the goal is to win. We certainly pat them on the back for the effort, but the result is not acceptable. We're making progress, but this is one that we really wanted to get and thought we could get, so we're disappointed."

On true freshman Kendall Hinton's first start at QB…
"He throws every ball well. If you watch him in practice, he hits those throws. It's the same thing we dealt with last year. You've got a freshman quarterback starting his first game, and I'm sure he had some jitters. He's a tremendous athlete who makes great plays, but there's a lot of throws that Kendall couldn't make that he makes consistently in practice. Sometimes you get out there in the game and your processing all the different rotations and the protection things, all the things the quarterback has to do, and sometimes that paralyzes you a little bit. It's his first start. I think there's some throws he didn't make, but I think we're not even in that game if he doesn't make some of the plays he makes with his feet and with his arm. I thought he played with great courage just like John [Wolford] did a year ago, and obviously he's a special talent with some of the things he does with his feet."

Wake Forest Wide Receiver K.J. Brent

On 4th quarter comeback…
"We were making the big plays down the stretch at the end of the game. Coach told us in the locker room we can't have lows coming out of the second half. We have to answer and keep playing consistently to make the big plays that we made in the fourth quarter throughout the whole game. We have the players to do it; we have the scheme to do. We just got to execute it."

On Kendall Hinton
"Kendall knows the offense. He's been confident throughout camp and the whole summer doing drills. John [Wolford] has got him to the point that where we're comfortable with him as well."

Wake Forest Linebacker Brandon Chubb

On causing turnovers…
"Two of them were in our hands today and we just dropped them when they gave us two. I think once we get one it will start rolling. It is just the icebreaker, and we need to get turnovers. It is very frustrating because they [coaches] mention it every day in practice."

On physicality of the game…
"It was definitely a physical game; the most physical game we have had so far this season. We have not faced a more physical team like that. Now we have ACC games, so we're going to be seeing that every week. We just have to prepare for it."

Wake Forest Quarterback Kendall Hinton

On the slow start…
"In the first quarter we started out slow. I missed a lot of throws, in the third quarter as well. Coming out of halftime, we started out slow, but once we got in a rhythm, the team picked it up."

On the fourth quarter success and building confidence... "It is not just my confidence, but the team's. We know we can fight through adversity. We're never out of it."

On taking a lot of hits:
"Give credit to Indiana, they're a hard team. They play hard. They took advantage of me running. I don't think the referees missed calls or anything, it was just a hard fought game."

Indiana Head Coach Kevin Wilson

Opening Statement...
"It was a good win. We made it hard at the end. We continued to improve and we finally started to get a better pass balance. We're very fortunate to win. We played pretty good defense until the end, but we got a little rattled. It's good to be 4-0, and we're pleased with the win today."

On keeping up confidence at the end of the game...
"I think defensively, we got a little rattled. We gave up some third downs. They had a really nice onside kick, they executed it perfectly. I thought we were OK, but the kid kicked it great and gave them a chance. It was nice to keep playing, get a little pressure, and good to close it out. We made it harder than we needed to. Wake played really, really good. They played hard, which I thought they would. We were very fortunate to win, very proud, and very happy."

On Indiana's upcoming schedule...
"This is the first game we've had the lead at halftime. No game has been easy for us. If we're not awake, we're doing a bad job coaching. We know conference play is coming and there's a lot of football to play. In this day and age, the ball can get down field, out in space. You've got to keep playing hard. At the seven or eight-minute mark, we lulled around and let them back in the game. But Wake kept playing. We can do a little bit better. We've been in some close games."
