WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest punter Alexander Kinal was named the Ray Guy Player of the Week for his efforts against Elon on Thursday, Sept. 3.
The honor is given to the punter who had the best week in the nation.
Kinal, a 6-4, 205-pound senior from Adelaide, South Australia, averaged a career single-game best of 49.2 yards on four punts vs. Elon. Kinal had a long punt of 70 yards and three of his four kicks came to rest inside the 20. Kinal has tied the school record with two career punts of 70 or more yards. Only Chuck Ramsey (1971-73) and Ryan Plackemeier (2002-05) had two punts of 70 or more yards during their careers.
Kinal's 49.3 average is the seventh-highest average in the nation this week.
Wake Forest will open ACC play this week with a 12:30 kickoff at Syracuse. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
