RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team dropped the ACC opener, 64-47, on Sunday at NC State. Three Demon Deacons scored in double figures in the loss.

Wake Forest dropped to 9-5 on the year and starts ACC play 0-1. NC State moved to 10-5 for the season and 1-1 in league play.

Freshman Ariel Stephenson led Wake Forest with 14 points in the game. Sophomore Amber Campbell added 13 points and three steals and senior Ataijah Taylor chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

Miah Spencer led the Wolfpack with 17 points. Dominique Wilson added 11 points and six rebounds.

NC State capitalized on eight Wake Forest fouls in the first quarter. The Wolfpack went 7-of-8 from the free throw line to take a 19-12 advantage after the first 10 minutes.

Ashley Williams opened the second period with a 3-pointer to spark the NC State offense. The Wolfpack outscored Wake Forest 17-5 in the quarter and held a 36-17 lead at halftime.

Taylor scored the first four points of the third quarter to cut NC State's lead to 36-21. Spencer was whistled for a foul that caused the Wolfpack bench to erupt and then get called for a technical. Stephenson went to the line and scored the next three Wake Forest points to cap off the 7-0 run for the Deacs.

Camille Anderson knocked down a 3-pointer for NC State to stop the Wake Forest run. The Wolfpack built the lead back to 17, 48-31 at the end of the third period.

The fourth quarter started with an 8-0 NC State run that extended the lead to 56-31 with 7:22 to play and forced a Wake Forest timeout. The Demon Deacons were unable to mount the comeback and fell to NC State 64-47.

Wake Forest remains on the road in North Carolina for the next ACC contest. The Demon Deacons travel to Duke on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
