WILMINGTON, N.C. – Wake Forest sophomore Jennifer Kupcho posted her second consecutive victory, earning medalist honors at the Landfall Tradition. The Demon Deacons tied for the team title after Sunday's final round at the Dye Course of the Country Club of Landfall, but finished as the tournament's runner-up as the result of a scorecard playoff.

Wake Forest and South Carolina both finished the tournament at 5-under par, but a scorecard playoff went to fifth score from Saturday's second round to break the tie and give the Gamecocks the team title. The tiebreaker denied the Demon Deacons their second straight victory as they finished a tournament under par for the third straight event, the longest such streak in school history.

Kupcho, who is the nation's top-ranked player in the GolfStat individual rankings, shot a final round 4-under 68 to finish at 9-under, winning the individual title by three strokes. She becomes the first Demon Deacon to win consecutive tournaments since Stephanie Neill won the first two events of the 1993-94 season. Kupcho is the first Wake Forest player to record two victories in the same season since Natalie Sheary in 2008-09.

"Our team played great this weekend," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "Jennifer had another impressive win and is very deserving of her No. 1 ranking. All of our students contributed and this is the third tournament in row that we have finished under par. It was disappointing to lose in a scorecard playoff, but the finish will be officially a tie for ranking purposes. We have had a successful fall and we are looking forward to the spring season."

Sierra Sims shot a final round 2-under 70 to finish the event at 4-under, tied for fifth place. Antonia Eberhard shot a 2-over 74 and Sierra Brooks had a 3-over 75 to each finish the tournament at 9-over, tied for 37th. Erica Herr had a final round 78 to finish at 2-over, tied for 21st.

The Demon Deacons, who entered the tournament ranked No. 13 nationally, concluded the fall season with three straight top-three finishes. They will open the spring season with the Northrop-Grumman Regional Challenge, held Feb. 12-14 in Palos Verdes, Calif.
