PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The Wake Forest men's golf team concluded play Tuesday at the Cypress Point Classic, a team match play event at the prestigious Cypress Point Golf Course. The Demon Deacons posted a 14-10 victory over Cal during singles play as they ended their fall schedule.

The tournament used a format where each individual match was worth four team points, two points for the overall winner, one point for the front nine winner and one point for the back nine winner. The first round featured four-ball competition, the second round featured foursomes and the third round featured singles matches.

"It was a beautiful day to play and the guys played very well," said head coach Jerry Haas. "A few of the matches came down to the final holes and we made some putts to win some matches. We played some really good golf and it was a great way to wrap up the fall."

The Demon Deacons had suffered a first round loss to UCLA before downing Alabama in the second round on Monday. In Tuesday's singles play, the Deacs won four of the six matches to post the 14-10 win. Cameron Young led the way by winning all four points in his match against Clayton Madey. Eric Bae downed Devin Hua 3.5-0.5, while Paul McBride and Lee Detmer each won three of four points in their victories. Will Zalatoris and Clancy Waugh suffered losses in their matches.

The Demon Deacons concluded their fall season with the event.
