GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest sophomore Jennifer Kupcho has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for October.
Kupcho, the No. 1 ranked player in the GolfStat rankings, posted a pair of victories last month. Her title at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, where set the school scoring record for a 54-hole event at 15-under par, was Wake Forest's first individual title since 2011. She also led the Demon Deacons to the team title in Chapel Hill. At the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., she won with a score of 9-under as the Demon Deacons tied for the win, but lost the title on a scorecard playoff.
With the victories, Kupcho became the first Wake Forest player to win consecutive tournaments since Stephanie Neill won the first two events of the 1993-94 season. The Littleton, Colorado, native also had a top-five finish at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C., as the Deacons finished third. Of her nine rounds in October, eight were under par and six were in the 60s.
Kupcho is the first Demon Deacon to win the award since Sierra Sims was honored for September, 2014.
The Demon Deacons will begin their spring schedule Feb. 12-14 at the Northrop-Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
