Men's Soccer Takes Off For Spain

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest men's soccer departed Friday afternoon for a trip of a lifetime to Spain. The Demon Deacons will arrive in Madrid, Spain, on the morning of Saturday, March 5, and return home on Sunday, March 13.
During the trip, Wake Forest will get an education in Spanish history and take numerous educations tours in Madrid and Barcelona while playing three matches and watching multiple professional matches and training sessions.
Highlights of the trip in Madrid will include training sessions at Las Rozas, the official training grounds of the Spanish National Team, and watching a Real Madrid training session while getting a tour of the Bernabeu Stadium. After interacting with the team, the Deacs will have the chance to watch Real Madrid in action against AS Roma in UEFA Champions League action. While in Madrid, the Deacs will also take on Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid.
In Barcelona, the Deacs will take in the scenic sites and history before getting the chance to watch a FC Barcelona at Camp Nou. Wake Forest will also take on UE Cornellá in the final match of the trip. Also while in Barcelona, the team has planned a get-together with Jon Bakero's family. The Sitges, Spain, native attended the International School of Barcelona before coming to the U.S. to play at Wake Forest. Sitges is located about 25 miles down the coast from Barcelona.
