GREENSBORO, N.C. -- In a poll of the 191 media members in attendance at last week's ACC Football Kickoff, Wake Forest has been picked to finished seventh in the conference's Atlantic Division.
The Deacs earned 347 points in the poll while Clemson was picked to win the division. In the Coastal Division, North Carolina was selected to repeat as division champion.
The 2016 season marks the 10th anniversary of Wake Forest's 2006 ACC Championship, when the Demon Deacons went 11-3 overall and made a run to the Orange Bowl. In 2006, the Demon Deacons were also picked to finish behind each of their Atlantic Division opponents before making the run at the ACC crown.
As one of the nation's youngest teams in 2015, Wake Forest returns a lot of depth from last year's squad with 18 starters back for the 2016 campaign, including nine on offense, seven on defense and two on special teams. Overall, the Deacs return 45 letterwinners from a season ago as Wake Forest looks to improve upon back-to-back 3-9 records in head coach Dave Clawson's first two seasons at the helm of the program.
The Demon Deacons will kick the 2016 season off on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. on ESPN3 against Tulane. The contest against the Green Wave marks the first of seven home games in 2016 for Wake Forest. Season tickets and single-game tickets are on sale now.
