Three Deacs Competing at U.S. Women's Amateur

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. -- Three members of the Wake Forest women's golf team are in action this week at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, held August 1-7 at the Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pa. Rising senior Sierra Sims and incoming freshmen Sierra Brooks and Mathilda Cappeliez are among the 154 players in the field.
The tournament will consist of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday. The top 64 players will advance to match play, which begins Wednesday and concludes with Sunday's final. Television coverage of match play will be on Fox Sports 1, starting Wednesday.
Brooks was the runner-up at last year's U.S. Women's Amateur, while Cappeliez was a semifinalist. Sims is playing in the event for the fourth time, having competed in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
