BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – Three members of the Wake Forest men's golf team are in action this week at the U.S. Amateur Championship, held August 15-21 at the Oakland Hills Country Club. Rising junior Will Zalatoris and rising sophomores Kyle Sterbinsky and Cameron Young are among the 312 players in the field.
The tournament will consist of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday. The top 64 players will advance to match play, which begins Wednesday and concludes with Sunday's final. Television coverage of match play will be on Fox and Fox Sports 1, starting Wednesday.
Young and Zalatoris are both competing in the event for the fourth consecutive year. Both players reached the round of 32 of match play at last year's event. In 2014, Young reached the quarterfinals, while Zalatoris reached the round of 16. Sterbinsky will be playing the U.S. Amateur for the first time this week.
